The Keurig 2.0 K200 features a wonderful concept for a coffee brewing machine. It is a coffee maker that can make a cup of coffee using coffee packs sold by Keurig. It can be used to make single-serving sizes either with K cups or with your regular grounds. It really is the best of both worlds, especially if you are going to have a group of friends coming over regularly. As it brews a cup in 1 to 3 minutes, it's ideal for you if you're planning on making a lot of coffee for the entire family.

So these are some of the reasons which motivated us to come about this Keurig K200 review. But you can find out more about the coffee maker in this in-depth review.

Overall Performance and Functionality

The Keurig 2.0 is a great machine apparently; the coffee tastes great and there are no returns of plastic taste from the machine in your coffee.

Many users love the ability of being able to brew coffee and use k-cups and their own grounds to brew single serving sizes. However, note that the coffee machine cannot make steamed milk and cannot be used for cappuccino or other milk drinks.

However, this machine does not come with a carafe so what you see is what you get. Also, the machine doesn’t hold the heat very well which kind of defeats the purpose. If you want to make a pot of coffee, you probably want it to stay warm for a little while. But we weren’t too disappointed that the carafe didn’t come with the machine. You can always purchase a carafe separately.

What Type of Coffee Can You Use?

Keurig K200 Review: Is It Worth Buying?

The only types of coffees you can use in this machine are Keurig coffee pods. You cannot use regular coffee in the machine. You have to use the pods made by Keurig. However, if you want to grind your own coffee to use, there’s a trick to doing this. Amazon sells K-cups. All you just need to do is grind your own coffee as fine as possible and pour in the K-cups.

Note that if the coffee isn’t as fine as possible, there may be leakages.

How Many Drink Options Does It Offer?

The machine doesn’t make anything more than the regular coffee or espresso. However, you can use it to make iced coffee when it cools down. The machine can brew more than 500 varieties of coffee.

Brewing Process

The Keurig one-cup coffee maker is common among homeowners because of its ease of use. The steps to brewing a cup of coffee with this are explained below:

Step 1: Plug in the coffee machine. Keurig is a fast machine but it takes a moment to heat the water.

Step 2: Fill the water reservoir up. Note that like most Keurig machines, the K200 can store enough water that you can use for several cups of coffee. The reservoir cover is on the upper side. Pick it up and fill it with water. You can hear it buzzing; It is the machine taking the water to heat.

Step 3: Choose your coffee. Many machines come with a selection of K cups, which are plastic with coffee and a filter. However, the K200 doesn’t come with the pods and you would need to purchase yours separately. Choose one, but don’t remove the aluminum cap.

Step 4: Insert the K cup. Just above the Keurig logo in the center of the machine is a handle. Gently lift it to open the coffee chamber and locate the circular hole. Place the mug in the hole and use the handle to close the lid. Then wait for the machine display to say “Ready to brew.”

Step 5: Your mug is ready. Place the mug on the tray at the base and center of the machine.

Step 6: Choose your size and press the prepare button. Many Keurigs are programmed to fill cups of various sizes. Below the screen are several buttons marked with a picture of a coffee cup. If you have never used this machine it is better to select the smallest one, therefore the cup will not overflow. However, the machine has 9 brew sizes to choose from.

Ease of Use

Keurig one-cup coffee makers are common among home and workplace owners and businesses who want to give their employees or customers a quick cup of coffee. While they are easy to use eventually, they are a bit confusing at first.

Keurig K200 Design

Keurig K200 Review: Is It Worth Buying?

As mentioned earlier, the machine is a single-cup Keurig. It’s made of plastic and a touchscreen human interface input. Other design features of the machine are explained below:

Size and Weight

Like most Keurig brewers, the K200 is a compact coffee brewing machine. It measures 15 x 9 x 13.7 inches in dimensions and weighs 7.5 lbs. The water reservoir can take 40 ounces or 1.183 liters of water.

What Is Included

In the box, you’ll find the Keurig 2.0 brewer and then a charcoal water filter. There’s also a manual and a cleaning disc which is for cleaning the nozzle.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Over time, the Keurig coffee machine can accumulate debris both inside and out. Thus, for a clean and effective cleaning, start by wiping the outside part of the coffee maker, then rinse the removable parts at least once a week using a cleaning solution based on vinegar.

To descale your machine, pour a solution of vinegar and water in equal proportions directly into the tank and start a series of brewing cycles. You can do this thorough cleaning several times a year. This will allow your machine to work properly and your coffee will also be of better quality.

If you don’t want to use your Keurig coffee machine for at least a week, the best thing to do is to empty the reservoir to prevent mineral deposits from forming.

Some Keurig coffee maker users prefer to add a few drops of essential oil, including lemon or orange oil, to the vinegar and water descaling solution. This will help alleviate the smell of the vinegar. So you can do it without any problem.

Warranty

Keurig K200 comes with a one-year limited warranty that covers manufacturer defects.

Price Tag

Most Keurig coffee machines are more expensive than the regulars and the K200 isn’t exempted. However, it’s cheaper than having to go out to have a drink of coffee in a coffee shop. Meanwhile, you can get a used model at a price of more or less than $150. A new one costs more than $200. But, while the K200 has been discontinued Trusted Source Keurig CEO Regrets Big Mistake Made with the 2.0 Brewer - Small Business Trends smallbiztrends.com , you can still find used models in good condition.

Key Features

Some of the most important features in the Keurig K200 are the following:

  • 4″ touchscreen: The Keurig has a black and white touchscreen where you can monitor the parameters. This is the same quality and size of the screen found in even more advanced models in the K-series.
  • 16 oz maximum cup size: The machine is a single-cup one but can make as much as a 16-ounce capacity cup.
  • 9 brew sizes and strength control: You can control the strength and sizes of your brew. The maximum size is 16 ounces but you can also make a 4oz, 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, and 14oz, cup size.
